Solar Energy

Solar power systems derive clean, pure energy from the sun, which helps combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduces our collective dependence on fossil fuel. Traditional electricity is sourced from fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas. When fossil fuels are burned to produce electricity, they emit harmful gases that are the primary cause of air pollution and global warming.

"Investing in this type of technology and renewable energy not only keeps us moving forward as a business leader, but steers our community toward a more sustainable future. I think it may be safe to say,

we serve the only Solar Powered Organic Bagels in the World!"

Los Bagels' solar project was partially funded by a USDA grant for rural communities. The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP)'s goal is to increase energy independence.

"The time was right, we were able to partner with some great folks in the community who really made this project go. Kokatat advised us along the way, from selecting a contractor, to putting together our grant packet. We also reached out to Campus Center for Appropriate Technology (CCAT) to get their input on system parameters."
